Abstract While California has ideal weather for many activities, beaches, and mountains, the water shortage in state caused challenges its growing population. The implemented some saving measures but must do more to meet needs as population continues increase. This paper explores what been done might be seek sources of water. Existing literature tends examine individual options, instead performing a broader comparison. study uses comparative analysis evaluate multiple approaches mitigating effects drought California, comparing cost information, technical maturity, less easily quantified advantages disadvantages. found that conservation, wastewater recycling, transfer, similar options have used successfully past should continue used. Because all those except recycling are reaching their limits, most feasible method mitigate future droughts is increased use recycling. However, it faces emotional political obstacles widespread use.
